Does Keyword Stuffing a "Seo Trick" beneficial in 2013 ?

Keyword stuffing is an unethical SEO practice which leads to banning a website in search engine ranking. It is very old SEO technique which is still used by many SEOs. Though many SEOs are using keyword stuffing in smart way. Those SEOs might be lucky as their website not penalized in latest updates from Google. Keyword stuffing is   black hat on page SEO technique. Keyword stuffing occurs when a web page is filled with keywords in the meta tags, alt tags or in content of a web page. Keyword meta tags is not used by Google for ranking web pages. SEOs use repetition of words in meta keywords tag.

I have analyzed many search queries for different industries and verticals in 2013. I have found keyword stuffing still works. I have seen may websites rank well just because they stuffed keywords in title, alt tags of images, title attribute of links and content. It is observed that not all website caught by Google’s anti-spam algo in the year 2013. I have seen the website which are very new with PR 1 or 0 are coming on top just because keyword stuffing in its source.

 In Title Tag
- Title Tag is the most important element in on page SEO. Many SEOs are targeting title tag for keyword stuffing while Google Quality guidelines recommend using appropriate and unique title tags.
Keyword Stuffing in Meta Description – I have seen many SEOs put all the keywords in their meta description tag and Google shows these tags in its search result snippet. It looks odd to white hat SEOs.

In Meta Keywords
- Usually people stuff keywords in meta keywords tag. But meta keyword tag is not used by Google for its SERPs. Bing and Yahoo use meta keywords tag in their algos.

In Image Alt Tags
- Still most of the SEOs using this technique. In the recent days I have checked so many sites they are using it. It is not surprising that Google has not banned these sites yet. As not 100% spammers caught by Google. But be aware and do not use keyword stuffing in image alt tags.

In Content
- SEOs using keyword stuffing in content also. Mouse over div + java scripts based content on web pages that doesn’t make sense to the reader. For example a software development company writes content what is software development on its home page. It also writes content about SDLC, different software applications. But that content is used for ranking purpose only. Real users will only be interested what kind of software company develops, what are the key areas of those software applications or products. This topic is still not captured in many SEO blogs. As Search engines always suggest that page should have content, but that content really make sense to readers. I always prefer to have content which is read by visitors. Create content for users not for search engines. You can Stuff Keyword in Content but it should be in a well manner so that when visitor read your content it seems to be good for them. Not simply putting all the keywords without any sense. One thing while Stuffing the keywords also remember the Keyword Density, it should not be so high. You can also go to this post "Best Seo Optimization Techniques To Promote Your Website".

What Is Google Authorship and Why It is Important For Seo | Ethical Seo Tips

Google Authorship

Google Authorship is about determining you to be a genuine author and proving the authenticity of the content that you write and publish for a website. In a layman’s term, it is about connecting and establishing your identity as an author of the blog you write for by connecting it to the Google+ profile. Google search results return searches and use this authorship as a byline where your avatar is displayed. In this way people searching the web will be able to identity who is the author of the content and make it easier to look for a particular author too.

Advantages of Google authorship

Every content writer dreams of getting greater visibility and higher hits for their content. And what better way for that than connecting their Google+ account with the content directly? This may give weightage to the author’s profile and higher traffic since Google+ is also a social networking website. The links can be easily shared between people through it and prove more useful in grabbing the attention of people. It also makes it easier for someone searching several contents written by the same writer and keeping it streamlined and more user-friendly.

Most common issues in authorship and their most effective solutions

Using the right profile picture and its importance

Setting up Google Authorship is actually quite easy and comprises of a few easy steps. The set up also needs a profile picture that you might have given already but may not see that image appear on a Google search result. This may be heartbreaking but a problem that can be easily fixed by a few troubleshooting techniques. Always crosscheck whether the Google+ profile picture of yours is identifiable or not. Also ensure there are no images in which you are wearing sunglass, caps, etc, basically anything that can cover up your face and make you less recognizable. Remember, Google prefers a full face on the picture and that’s the choice you should go with while selecting a profile picture.

Only original authors are eligible for Authorship

Google considers and allows only real human beings for opening an account with Authorship and needs original and relevant content. It does not take or consider any business logo or mascot as the author of a particular content. This doesn’t mean that content cannot be posted on the internet if it is not by identifiable humans and is invalid. Only Authorship has such a criterion as Google wants to focus and bring up the feature for individual profiles and not that of a company.

Clearly mention a byline to go with your content

If you want your content to get an Authorship search result, there are two main things to be taken care of. One is to make sure that all content of yours has clearly mentioned a byline that states the name of the author. Secondly, this much mentioned name should match the name you have mentioned in your Google+ profile. So avoid using aliases or nicknames just to be more identifiable as the author of the content.

Get every author writing for your site an author page

If your website is built using Wordpress themes and frameworks like Genesis you might be interested in knowing that they provide you with the option of setting up a unique author page using the options under Users Tab. Such templates then provide a byline automatically when the page is created by the author and the link is linked to the writer’s author page. With such provision already in place, all you need to do is connect the Google+ profile with the unique author page and each author can link their pages with their content on your site. In case the site doesn’t use themes then a coding right into the author pages may provide the necessary link between the content and the author’s page.

Misattribution in displaying correct author information in Google search results

It may so happen that Google search results are not providing your profile picture along with your content and may even display some other author’s image. This is a genuine problem as it may end up giving the wrong author the credit for content that you have written.

Carefully inspect the issue and do an on-page search for the name that is displayed instead of yours for the content. It may also happen that the profile which is displayed along with your content is of someone who has commented in your article and Google may just have extracted that writer’s information and displayed it right away. It is a question as to why such authorship issue takes place by Google and what makes it choose only a particular name from a whole section of comments.

Do not use domain authorship attribution

There are many themes and plugins that provide the option of setting up authorship for your domain but is not a good idea to begin with. Google doesn’t like Authorship to be used for a page that doesn’t display even a single article or subsequent versions of it by the same author. The page that needs authorship is the ones with rich and genuine content written by real human beings. This includes content that is of analytical nature or of a person’s view on a topic. Property listings and product pages do not carry such content and hence should not be connected to authorship.

Conclusion

Google Authorship is evolving since its launch in summer of 2011 and keeps on going through major upgrades and changes. It may be safe to say that it will only get better with time and Google will work on the misattributions with a keen eye. Till then you can start being alert about such issues that may hamper your visibility and use the above points to solve them. If all is done well properly your authorship may start producing fruitful results within no time.

Importance of Site Speed in SEO Efforts : A SEO Technique

Importance of Site Speed in SEO Efforts

There are many search engine optimization (SEO) techniques that bloggers and website owners could apply to be able to improve page ranking and make websites known to a wider audience. One of the things you must not overlook when doing SEO is ensuring that your web site has decent site speed. Why is site speed important and what can you do to improve yours?

Poor Load Time Affects Readability

Google includes site speed as one of the so-called “signals” in its page ranking algorithms, although it “doesn't carry as much weight as the relevance of a page.” According to the Google Webmaster Central Blog, there’s currently less than 1% of search queries that are affected by the site speed signal.

Relevance is what drives online users, upon landing on your page, to want to know more about what your website offers, to navigate deeper into your website pages. However, if it takes too much time to load your site, then all the hard work you put in producing relevant content would be wasted.

Negative Impact for Your Website Ranking

According to an article from Moz.com, poor site speed could negatively hurt your page ranking if your pages take a dreadful amount of time to load. It’s something that could hit you if for instance, your relevancy scores and link metrics are pretty close to that of your competitors’.

Enhanced User Experience

It’s true that the negative effect of slow site speed to your page ranking is minimal and presents no serious cause of alarm, but you might be missing out on chances of further improving your rank if you don’t optimise the speed of your site.

Google, as we know, aims to provide the best experience to online users by constantly fine-tuning its search engine results pages—awarding higher ranking to reputable sites and “punishing” those that try to spam online users. Focus on improving your on-site processes, as much as you implement off-site SEO techniques, and you can bet that Google, and your readers, will surely love you.

Improving Site Speed

Smaller websites usually are easier to optimise for site speed. There are many tools you can use for improving site speed, many of them, Google itself provided. To optimise the loading time and response rates of your pages, you may also try the following basic fixes:

  • The problem with your site could be not the site speed itself, but your Internet accessibility. Make sure you have fast internet connection and if that still doesn’t improve the speed by which your pages load, then you need to make some on-site adjustments.
  • Combine all of your CSS into an external file and link to it from the <head> section of each page rather than loading it in the HTML of a page.
  • Make sure your images are optimised for the web.
  • Reduce HTTP Requests so the pages will load faster. Do this by reducing the number of items needed to be loaded for each page such as images, scripts, and style sheets.
  • Combines images used in the background into one image, by using CSS sprites.
  • Server side caching should be used since it creates an HTML page for a URL.
  • Use Gzip to compress the size of the page sent to the browser. It can also reduce the file size by up to 70%.
  • Use a content delivery network (CDN) system so that users can download information from your site faster. Use services like Amazon CloudFront, which is an affordable type of CDN.
  • 301 Redirects force the browser to a new URL. This requires the browser to wait for the HTTP request, slowind down your site. Lessen its use or don’t use it if possible.
  • Use webmaster tools for tweaking your site speed such as YSLOW and the HTML suggestions in Google Webmaster Tools.
